Concerning SCCA autocross events: Their are weekend SCCA memberships for ~$45 but the insurance people have mandated that any person running SCCA autocross events be a member for ~$75 depending on region. As a member, the event cost drops to ~$25. Each member is insured in case something happens. SCCA autocross events are about precision driving with minimum risk. A competitor drives the defined course to achieve a minimum time without hitting cones which are a two second penalty each. No member wants injuries or wants to lose access to event sites which are difficult to find/rent, keep access and maintain.

Gulf Coast Region SCCA hosts autocross events at Sunny South Raceway in the parking lot on the fourth Sunday of each month. June event will be held 27 June, Saturday afternoon/evening, because of heat index. The event insurance is too high to run course on the oval. Search for gulfcoastregionscca.org or scca.org and Solo and Region 12. Sunny South has their own website also for directions to 11380 Highway 90, Grand Bay, AL 36541.

Wiregrass Region SCCA hosts autocross events at Hunt Field, northwest of Dothan AL, near US 231 and Dale County 18.

The Tallahassee folks rent South Georgia Motorsports Park, just off I-75, Cecil GA, north of Tifton GA.

Alabama Region hosts their events at Birmingham Race Course, take Exit 31 (Derby Parkway) off I-459 just north of the I-459/I-20 junction east of Birmingham. Enter at the second gate.

Two sites GCR has been working for:

Northwest Florida State College has a 400 by 600 feet square pad for driver training.

Lucky 13 Truck Stop is closed at 285 and I-10. The parking lot could be a potential site.

Great! Do you know of anyone that we could talk to about the NW Florida pad or the Lucky 13 Truck stop?

I will have to find my file with the names and contacts.

The NFSC contact is with the Police Training Coordinator.

Lucky 13 contact was found using the Walton County Tax Rolls website.

SCCA meeting is in Pensacola Thursday night. Check the gulfcoastregionscca.org website for exact times and place near WalMart exit 10.

I emailed you with details of Lucky 13 owner PO Box in DeFuniak Springs from the Walton County Tax Appraiser website.

I am still working on name and telephone number of NWFSC Police Driving Safety Director who controls access to the 400' by 600' pad.

Good Deal. Either myself or Javier plan on being at the meeting unless something changes.

Hey, there. Was hoping for updates on this subject. I hope we haven't collectively given up on the Lucky 13 truck stop. Question

This was pretty much canned. Charles wanted to be able to host it through Top End USA. Problem was the cost to do everything trickled down to the amount needing to be charged to participate in the event. Which was way too much and Charles didn't not want to insult his customers by charging them that rate.

As it warms up, we will take a look at this again, in hopes that prices will be better, so that we can collaborate with the local SCCA chapter to get something going.

It's warming up! Look at it again! bounce

I wish I could help. I'm stuck in a sandbox for a year.
